Of any elected position, a City Council Member has the greatest capacity for face-to-face interaction with the community. Utilizing the forum of our Council, I seek to tap into the knowledge, experience and expertise of our city to make it the best it can be. Furthermore, I will actively work with other elected officials at county and state levels to advocate for the needs of our community.

If the past five years have taught us anything, it’s that communities must cultivate economic resilience. This means diversifying the types of businesses we attract. This means increasing the mobility of our residents through more viable public transportation. This means broadening our tax base through responsible development so that our City can continue to deliver necessary services without overburdening individual households and businesses during times of economic turmoil. I will work with the other members of the City Council to strengthen our city’s resilience so that our residents, our businesses, and our government can weather any economic storm that comes our way.

We are blessed in Shoreview to have a plethora of incredible parks that highlight the natural beauty of our city. Fun fact: parks account for nearly 20% of the land area of Shoreview! I consider this to be a strength. As a City Council Member, I will do all that I can to protect and maintain our wonderful parks! Beyond this, I will ensure that our natural lands remain clean and safe for both people and wildlife. Part of responsible development is making sure that our works do not adversely impact our natural lands.

I believe the role of any elected official is to be a servant to the public. As a City Council Member, a nonpartisan office, my active constituency is the whole of Shoreview. As such, my service must be responsive to the needs of all members of our community and free of partisan strife.

It will be my job to uphold public trust and ensure that all residents of Shoreview – no matter where they come from or what they believe – feel this is a city in which they can thrive.
